The main elements of the Abberton Scheme are: the sourcing of new water from outside the Essex area through increased abstraction of water at Denver in Norfolk, the transporting of the water to the Essex area via an improved Transfer Scheme and storing the additional water by raising the level of the existing Abberton reservoir. To achieve this, the Contracting Entity intends to award contracts for the following :
LOT 1 - Kennett Pumping Station Upgrade.
LOT 2 - Transfer Pipelines.
LOT 3 - Wormingford Pumping Station Construction.
LOT 4 - Abberton Reservoir Raising Works.

All works will be subject to significant planning, ecological, environmental & archaeological provisions, improvements and enhancements. Significant constraints will be imposed on construction operations and timings.
Further details on the Abberton Scheme are available from website
