SECTION II: OBJECT OF THE CONTRACT

II.1) DESCRIPTION

II.1.5) Short description of the contract or purchase(s):
The Contractor will be engaged following completion of the initial concept design and optioneering that is currently progressing towards the FEL Gate 2. On award of the contract there will be an initial mobilisation and familiarisation (Phase 1). This will be followed by Phase 2, during which the contractor will be responsible for the completion of the design in an integrated team with Sellafield Limited to a level of detail which will prove that all hazards have been addressed as far as possible, and a Pre-Construction Safety Report can be completed and approved. The Contractor will also develop and structure the engineering specifications in support of procurement packages, including the identification of any long lead items. The Contractor will also work in conjunction with Sellafield Ltd as part of the early contractor engagement process to attain a clear unambiguous understanding of the future works, in order to develop the scope, schedule and cost for the subsequent phase.
Providing there is still a clear Business Justification the project will then be presented within SL and to the NDA and Government for approval to proceed with the project through to completion and handover.
Once approval is gained there is the option for a further instruction for the remainder of the work which will be dependant on performance during the initial phase. Phase 3 of the works will see the successful contractor completing the detailed design for the entire works, construction of the facility procuring Plant & Equipment, undertaking works acceptance tests as necessary and installation together with associated CE&I, HVAC, piping packages etc, setting to work and commissioning up to level 3, which will also include the active tie-ins to the existing facilities.

II.2) QUANTITY OR SCOPE OF THE CONTRACT
II.2.1) Total quantity or scope:
The Contractor will be engaged following completion of the initial concept design and optioneering that is currently progressing towards the FEL Gate 2. No legal form is required, but in the event of a group of contractors submitting an acceptable offer, it will be necessary to provide Collateral Warranties as prescribved in the Form of Agreement detailed in Section 4 of the tender documentation.
