Phase 1 of a 3 phased redevelopment and remodelling of the College's Grade II* listed Victoria Centre to provide modern state of the art teaching and catering accommodation. The first phase of the project will require the demolition of the north east corner of the building and the construction of a new four storey extension with a single level basement adjacent to the party wall. The new building will provide the college with a new central atrium and new purpose built accommodation, linking into the retained exisiting buildings on two sides. Phase 1 will also include an element of refurbishment and the introduction of a new college entrance. The Victoria Centre is the College's centre for hospitality and when all phases of the redevelopment are complete, will include the provision of 16 training/production kitchens, two restaurants and all associated plant and services. See item V1.3) for additional information on Phases 2 and 3.

1. Additional background information is contained in the Pre-Qualification document which will be issued to interested parties on request. 2. It is anticipated that First Stage Tender documents will be issued on the basis of RIBA Stage D documentation. 3. It is aniticpated that Second Stage Tender documents will be issued on the basis of RIBA Stage E documentation. 4. All dates and time periods specified in this Notice are only provisional and the contracting authority reserves the right to change these. 5. The total programme of works to be carried out as part of the Victoria Centre Redevelopment will be carried out over three phases and this Notice relates to Phase 1 (inclusive of Pre-Phase 1 works) of the total programme. 6. At this stage the works for Phases 2 & 3 which comprise refurbishment works to the existing college buildings cannot be fully scoped and will therefore be subject to a separate Notice but it is likely that these will not be delivered on a design and build basis. 7. Subject to satisfactory performance the contractor awarded Phase 1 will pre-qualify as a tenderer for the Phases 2 & 3 tender. 8. If any applicant considers that any information supplied by them is either commercially sensitive or confidential in nature, this should be highlighted and the reasons for its sensitivity as well as the duration of such sensitivity specified. In such cases the relevant material will, in response to requests made under the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act 2000, be examined in the light of the exemptions of the Act. 9. Candidates who wish to express an interest in this contract must request a Pre-Qualification Questionnaire (PQQ) from the contact point identified in section Annex A II). The PQQ will contain further details on the required conditions for participation referred to in section III.2 above. 10.
