Short description of the contract or purchase(s):
Construction of a significant new building of approximately 23 000 MSq to house Library, Teaching spaces, Students’ Union, Food court, Medical Suite, Commercial and ancillary functions, along with the extension and refurbishment of existing buildings, landscaping and demolition/ alteration works. Phased handovers, working around occupied areas and decanting of occupants are required to be carried out as part of the works. The new building is aiming to achieve BREEAM Excellent. Contract will be procured using a 2 stage tender process with the contract being awarded summer 2009 and commencement of site operations in 2010. The requirements and timescales above reflect the current scope of the contract however these are subject to possible changes.

A single main contract will be placed for the works using the NEC3 ECC form of contract. This will be entered into pursuant to a first stage appointment which is likely to be based on the NEC PSC.
