Construction of a new build extension between the Old Deanery and Cloister housing interpretation space, cafe, education spaces etc. Extensive landscaping works, external lighting and alterations and adaptation of Old Deanery to form new cafe, education and community spaces, Stone repairs to Exchequergate arch and boundary walls. Listed Buildings and Scheduled Ancient Monuments on an archaeologically sensitive site and highways works beyond the site boundary.

Works carried out to and around an active Cathedral with requirements to maintain access and programmed activities to the cathedral, maintaining access to adjacent occupied properties and public spaces and for all fire and emergency service vehicles.

II.2.4)Description of the procurement:

Main works contractor with experience of working on heritage sensitive and occupied sites is required to undertake the construction of a new build extension to an Old Deanery. Close liaison with relevant authorities is required to ensure installation satisfies all statutory conditions. Alterations to the Llisted Old Deanery to create a new cafe, education and community facilities including new lift installation. Extensive landscaping works, external lighting and conservation works to existing stone Exchequergate arch and boundary walls

The works will be procured in competitive tender based on JCT form of contract with measured BQ. Possible phased possession of specific site areas.

The works include new build works, refurbishment and alteration works, new landscaping and highways works and all on archaeologically sensitive site with a watching brief required for any excavations.

Contractors interested in participating in the tender process should submit an expression of interest and a Pre Qualification Questionnaire (PQQ) will be issued. The PQQ must be completed in full and returned by the date stated as being the date for Receipt of tenders / request to participate. The PQQ's will be evaluated in accordance with the stated evaluation criteria included within the PQQ and a short list of contractors selected for tender and the tender documents shall be issued by date stated as Issue tender date.
