II.2.4)Description of the procurement:
North London Waste Authority is a statutory authority whose principal responsibility is the disposal of waste collected by the 7 north London boroughs of Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Hackney, Haringey, Islington and Waltham Forest. The Authority predominantly manages its waste arisings through its waste management contract with LondonEnergy Ltd (LEL), a private company which is wholly owned by the Authority. LEL operates an existing Energy from Waste facility at the Edmonton EcoPark which is due to be replaced as part of the Authority’s North London Heat and Power Project (NLHPP). Under the NLHPP, the Authority will develop a new Energy Recovery Facility at the Edmonton EcoPark pursuant to a development consent order granted to the Authority on 24.2.2017. The construction of a laydown area and an eastern access to the Edmonton EcoPark are part of the preparatory works for the NLHPP. The laydown area is to be constructed on an area of open scrubland located to the east of the Edmonton EcoPark. The laydown area will be used to provide construction parking, temporary accommodation (offices and staff welfare facilities), storage and fabrication areas and associated access and utilities. The eastern access works comprise improvement works to Lee Park Way and construction of a new access bridge off Lee Park Way which will provide access to the site for light construction traffic, operational staff and visitors. This procurement is for the west side of the laydown area and the eastern access works.
