In addition, the promotion of energy efficiency and renewable energy in cities and public buildings reduces costs, creates jobs, drives economic growth and improves the quality of life. However, the lack of frameworks, standards, expertise and access to finance prevent the country from unlocking the potential for energy efficiency and renewable energy. Factors such as gender inequality and the consequences of the armed conflict in Colombia also hinder the implementation of inclusive climate policies. Women are under-represented in the energy sector and in decision-making. Objective: A more enabling environment, pilot projects and easier access to finance for improving energy efficiency encouraging renewable energy use in public buildings and in the cities contribute to the energy transition.
