Description: Mit Beendigung des sogenannten Kalten Krieges hat der Bund die Sirenen aufgegeben und den Kommunen zur Übernahme angeboten. Zur Alarmierung der Feuerwehr Düren waren die Sirenen nicht mehr erforderlich. Die verbliebenden Systeme wurden abgebaut. Seitdem wird ein BOS-Funkmeldesystem genutzt. Somit stehen im Stadtgebiet Düren derzeit keine Sirenen zur Warnung der Bevölkerung zur Verfügung. Gemäß Beschluss des Rates der Stadt Düren (2024-0302) vom 25.09.2024 wurde die Wiedereinführung eines flächendeckenden Sirenennetzes in der Stadt Düren beschlossen.
