The commercial meshing tool Pointwise has strong scripting capabilities with automatic meshing based on a set of parameters. The setup of such script is complex and demanding and we will hence subcontract the best experts in this field that will provide the software and support. The setup of the meshing script will be made in close cooperation with KTH that has the deep flow physics knowledge needed to build good CFD meshes. Most of the meshing work is generic and can be made early in the project although the settings to analyse will not emerge until the end of the project. Moreover, Pointwise has a necessary functionality (T-Rex) for automatic generation of anisotropic hexa-dominated surface mesh in strongly curved regions, used for extruding the boundary layer mesh. This will drastically save the number of cells around sigle-curved surfaces, such as e.g. the wing leading edge, where the spanwise resolution can be kept reasonable coarse with preserved accuracy. Pointwise is particularly biased and has traditionally been used for aeronautical applications.
Moreover, Neptech AB, the reseller and support of Pointwise is located in the Stockholm area and KTH has a long experience in cooperating with Faranggis Bagheri the Pointwise expert at Neptech AB with prompt and good support and expert help for Pointwise and related software. Moreover, Pointwise is the only meshing tool that directly can export the mesh in the format for our CFD software.
Only Pointwise and the expert consultancy from Neptech AB fulfils these requirements. It should be made clear that the success of the project is dependent on the named expert from Neptech AB, Faranggis Bagheri, and the engagement with Neptech AB should be conditional.
