In the early days of the HPA project a number of different facilities providing immunization service were tested. However, the service provided by Young In Frontier was the best choice for our project and therefore we have since 2005 immunized a total of 41.785 antibodies at Young and Frontiers facility in South Korea. The antibodies raised at this animal farm have shown to have a high quality and reproducibility. Young In Frontier has also the required expertise and a facility that fulfils the demands of the project.
Using another immunization company would lead to unusable antibodies, because of lack of comparability with the already produced ones. As the project is going towards an end, there is a distinct decrease in the antibody production. Thus, changing provider now when there are only a few antibodies left to produce, would only delay the project.
The facilities at Young In Frontier have been adjusted to fulfil the demands of the Swedish regulations, which is important to be able to use the product here in Sweden.
Because of the above stated reasons, it is crucial that the HPA can continue on using Young In Frontier as service provider for the antibody generation.
This point is absolutely crucial if the seduction can be used. The motivation must be crystal clear and objectively investigate why this supplier is the only one in the world that can deliver this.
Competition is a cornerstone of EU legislation, and exceptions must be properly motivated and documented.
