The OBI Stellavision SV20 is unique in the market as it enables fully automated workflow for multiple cycles of single molecule RNA FISH (Fluorescent In Site Hybridization) reaction and imaging with resolution to detect individual mRNA molecules in intact cells and tissue simultaneously with throughput that images the whole tissue section at high speed. In particular, the optical imaging part of the instrument is based on Synthetic Aperture Optics (SAO) technology delivering the lateral resolution similar to 100x oil immersion lens simultaneously with the large Field of View (FOV), large Depth of Field (DOF), and long Working Distance (WD) of 20x/0.45NA air lens. As a consequence, the instrument can image 200 mm2 in less than three hours while resolving single mRNA molecules across the depth of a 10 μm thick tissue section. This combination of speed and resolution is not possible with any other current technology, to our knowledge.
According to the Swedish Public Procurement Act SFS 2016:1145 (LOU) 5 Ch, 14 §, subsection 2, a negotiated procedure without prior notice is permitted when only one supplier can provide the product or service to be procured, due to technical reasons. KI hereby announces its intention to purchase the above specified microscope from Optical Biosystems Inc.
