Healthcare-associated Infections and Antimicrobial use in Long-term Care Facilities — Support to a Point Prevalence Survey and a Longitudinal Study
The call for tender aims at continuing the implementation and improving the quality of the repeated point prevalence surveys in long-term care facilities (LTCF) using the methodology developed by the European Long-Term care facilities (HALT) project to:
— provide countries and LTCFs with a standardized tool to follow-up trends in healthcare associated infections (HAIs) and antimicrobial use,
— identify priorities for national and local interventions and evaluate their implementation,
— allow the estimation of the incidence and burden (disability-adjusted life years) of HAIs in LTCFs by collecting longitudinal data in selected EU/EEA countries.
