SMART 2016/0043 — Broadband coverage in Europe.
The subject matter of the contract is a study monitoring broadband coverage objectives of the digital agenda, which means household coverage of different fixed and wireless broadband technologies with a special focus on next generation access technologies. Data is presented at EU level (geographically) and at Member State level with specific country files. It provides evidence for policy evaluation and development to be used by the Commission.

The main objective of the study is to monitor the progress in the deployment of broadband networks, i.e. to measure primarily the household coverage of different fixed and wireless broadband technologies with a special focus on next generation access (NGA) technologies. The Commission will publish the results of the study in the digital scoreboard. The data to be collected should refer to the middle of the year (2016 in the first year).
