There are 3 weir gates each with independent motors, gears, drive shafts, chains and winches. The gates each measure 24.38 metres (80 feet) long x 3.66 metres (12 feet) high and weight about 40 tonnes. Each gate is suspended from four roller chains which pass over two winches and have 2 x 20 tonne (approx.) counterbalance weights attached.

Under the terms of this contract the successful supplier(s) will be required to deliver Community Benefits in support of the authority's economic and social objectives. Precise information on deadline(s) for lodging appeals: Glasgow City Council will incorporate a minimum 10 calendar day standstill period at the point of information on the award of the contract is communicated to tenderers. This period will allow unsuccessful tenderers to seek further debriefing from the contracting authority before the contract is entered into. Such additional information should be required from the procurement officer (see details Section 1.1 of the contract notice). If an appeal regarding the award of the contract has not been successfully resolved the Public Contracts (Scotland) Regulations 2012 provide for aggrieved parties who have been harmed or are at risk of harm by breach of the rule to take action in the Sheriff Court of the Court of Session.
