Greenlink Interconnector Limited is developing a 500 MW HVDC interconnector system between the existing electricity grids in Ireland and Wales (UK). The inter-connector will provide a new grid connection between Great Island transmission substation in Wexford, Ireland and Pembroke transmission substation in south Wales.

The Greenlink Interconnector cable route is approximately 205 km in length between the Pembroke Converter Station and the Great Island Converter Station of which 7 km is onshore in Wales, 170 km is subsea and 28 km is onshore in Ireland.

The purpose of this notice is to provide information to the market that Greenlink Interconnector Limited wishes to conduct preliminary market consultations prior to the commencement of a procurement procedure.

Any interested HVDC converter station, HVAC cable, or HVDC cable suppliers and /or contractors experienced in delivering all or part of the scope of works detailed in Section II.4 above are invited to attend supplier forum events to be held on 29.5.2018 in London. One event will be held in the morning on 29.5.2018 will cover the details of the cables scope of supply. A second event will be held in the afternoon on 29.5.2018 and will cover the converter station scope of supply. These supplier forum events will provide an update of progress and future plans for the Greenlink Interconnector Project and seek to consult with the supply chain through a supplier questionnaire to be completed and returned by a date to be notified.

Any HVDC converter station, HVAC cable, or HVDC cable suppliers and /or contractors with HVDC converter station or HVDC cable experience wishing to attend a supplier forum event should contact the Greenlink Procurement Manager by email ( greenlink.procurement@wsp.com ) for further details.

This notice and any subsequent notices in respect of this procurement are entirely voluntary as Greenlink Interconnector Limited does not consider itself to operate on the basis of special or exclusive rights for the purposes of Directive 2014/25/EU and any national implementing legislation. Greenlink Interconnector Limited does however intend to conduct the procurement process using a negotiated procedure and plans to issue a contract notice in August 2018 providing details of how economic operators can submit an expression of interest and a pre-qualification questionnaire. At this stage it is envisaged that the procurement will be structured as 2 lots. Greenlink Interconnector Limited may however wish to consider including a combined Lot 3 option before issuing a contract notice and formally launching the procurement.
