Explanation:
In response to the Covid-19 pandemic, the UK government imposed lockdown measures preventing vulnerable individuals from leaving their homes. This coupled with an increased demand on supermarket home deliveries gave rise to an urgent risk that those vulnerable groups would not be able to obtain basic supplies which may lead to deterioration in health, thus placing an additional strain on the NHS. This contract enables the urgent delivery of essential items to those vulnerable individuals during lockdown.
