The Home Office Border Force has a requirement for an external contractor to provide security services to its operational activities in the Ports of Calais and Dunkerque in Northern France. Arrangements made under clauses 40 and 41 of the Immigration Asylum and Nationality Act 2006 allows for the examination of freight vehicles by an agent appointed by the Crown.
The Home Office Border Force is required to control immigration into the UK by identifying and denying admission to people entering or attempting to enter in breach of the Immigration Rules and to reduce the flow of people seeking to evade the immigration control. This is achieved by effective deployment of freight searching teams with either detection technology provided by Border Force or Dog Teams provided by another contractor appointed by Border Force. The Services also include detention and escorting of detainees.

The proposed contract services are currently provided by a contractor with staff and operations in France.
