II.2.4)Description of the procurement:

BHC is procuring the design and build of a piece of public art to be located in a pedestrianised square in the City Quays Development. The piece of art will be placed proximate to the entrance of a 9-story 4 star hotel to be constructed in City Quays. The design concept must be aesthetically pleasing, original and distinctive while also demonstrating that practical, cost-effective structural engineering and building services solutions have been considered. The proposal must represent an original and interesting idea. It is envisaged that the art solution will be no higher than 14 metres and may act as a geographical point of reference/meeting signpost in the area. The winning applicant will be required to take the lead designer responsibilities and design, construct and install the piece of art within budget and within the agreed time-scale. Further details on the process are outlined in the Information Memorandum. This is a below threshold contract.

The winning design will be awarded a contract for the construction and installation of the winning concept. The estimated contract value will not exceed 75 000 GBP (excl. VAT). This includes all fees, construction, transport, installation as well as all other disbursements, outgoings and related costs (with the exception of costs associated with the provision of any foundations required to support the design and/or electricity for lighting if required). BHC will be responsible for the provision of all facilities the successful applicant requires in order to complete the construction and installation of the design concept including water and power.
