The AAL Programme aims at enhancing the quality of life of older people and strengthen the industrial base in Europe through the use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT). AAL supports applied research on innovative ICT-enhanced services for ageing well, with a time to market of 1 to 3 years. The AAL Programme 2014-2020 is driven by Member States and supported by the European Commission, to enhance EU competitiveness and tackle the ageing challenge. The AAL Programme manages a number of Support Actions such as the Feasibility Studies for the establishment of an Information Portal and Market Observatory in the field of AAL and the AAL2Business that is a 3-year support action aimed to help AAL projects to enter the market. From the above mentioned feasibility studies for the Information Portal and Market Observatory in the field of AAL, it was concluded that, regarding the topics related to ‘ICT and ageing well’ a wide range of information sources can be found through the internet. However this information is spread and scattered over a variety of different websites. These provide different types of information, some of them being consumers-oriented, other ones providing only business information or research-related initiatives. Most of these websites have a limited lifetime, due to the lack of funding once the project is finished or a lack of a sustainability plan. In the occasion of the AAL Call 2015, focused on ‘Living actively and independently at home’, a project (hereafter referred to ‘AAL Project’) aimed at analysing and collecting available resources on AAL to establish a scientific foundation for an innovative, modern and multilingual ICT-based advisory and decision support framework for assisted technologies, and in depth survey of stakeholders, such as consumers, governments and businesses to gather requirements on use cases, features and service offers, was retained for funding. The AAL Programme is launching this Call for tender to complement and collaborate with the AAL Project, in order to set up a unified and dynamic AAL information portal and market observatory with up-to-date information about existing production, solutions, funding and investment opportunities in the field of ‘ICT and ageing well’ for a broad community of stakeholders and facilitate the connection between offer and demand in the field of AAL. The objective is to serve as a trusted reference source of high quality AAL information, supported by an online platform and a set of paralleled activities related to awareness raising and market-related information provision.
