II.2.4)Description of the procurement:

Network Rail propose to build the ‘Forth Bridge Experience’, which is intended to open up the bridge to the general public, creating an enhanced tourist attraction. The overall project proposition of the Forth Bridge Experience consists of a visitor centre located at the base of the Fife Tower on the north shore of the estuary, a public viewing platform at the top of the Fife Tower accessed by hoists from this visitor centre and a bridge walk experience on the southern end of the bridge, accessed from South Queensferry.

Description of options:

Option 1: Build of the south side Forth Bridge Walk Experience. These works include a visitor reception and briefing building, various off bridge civil works such as car parks, road alternations and footpaths. The works also include on bridge stairways, walkways and viewing platforms. Approx GBP 11 million-GBP 14 million.

Option 2: Design and build of phase 2 of the project. A visitor centre located at the base of the Fife Tower on the north shore of the estuary; a public viewing platform at the top of the Fife Tower accessed by hoists from this visitor centre. Approx GBP 20 million and envisaged to complete around 2025.
