Her Majesty’s Coroners are involved in the investigation of any sudden or suspicious death. Under these circumstances, and by law, a post mortem examination may be undertaken to determine the cause of death. Norfolk County Council wishes to enter into a contract(s) for the provision of services for the removal of bodies on behalf of Her Majesty's Coroner.

II.2.4)Description of the procurement:

The procurement will be an open procedure to appoint a contractor(s) for the provision of services for the removal of bodies on behalf of Her Majesty's Coroner. It is anticipated that the requirement will be split into a number of service areas with each area having its own Contractor. At this point the Council's approach to the areas is still being considered. As such we will be seeking views from potential bidders at a supplier engagement event. Please see section VI.3) for further details.

Further to Paragraph 3 of the Best Value Statutory Guidance issued by the Secretary of State for Local Government in September 2011, the Council is holding an engagement event to explore plans for the delivery of this service prior to a contract notice being issued and tenders being invited. The event will be held on the afternoon of 2nd August at County Hall in Norwich. Precise details will be made available once know and will be published on our procurement system.

The event will inform providers of our intentions and what we hope to achieve, to ascertain what potential providers see as areas of risk, to discuss the specification, and what (if anything) would stop interested parties from applying.
