Mechanical Specialist, New Student Centre Completion Contract
As a result of termination of the employment of the original main contractor and the requirement to re-tender the main project delays in completion of the mechanical reserved specialist works have been encountered. The tender date for the mechanical reserved specialist works is April 2019 and the anticipated finalisation of the completion contract is Q1 2022. Arising from the delays increased costs have arisen associated with hyperinflation in the construction industry and increased costs associated with the availability of materials and labour.
Unanticipated termination of employment of original main contractor resulted in a requirement to re-tender the main project. As a result of the termination and re-tender process on the main contract delays have been encountered on the mechanical reserved specialist works. Arising from the unforeseen and unanticipated delays increased costs have arisen associated with hyperinflation in the construction industry during this delay period, increased costs associated with availability of materials arising from shortages, all due to the unprecedented event of the Covid pandemic and restrictions on imports and also increased costs associated with the availability of labour again due to the pandemic.
