Doelstelling van de gemeente Amsterdam is de blootstelling aan lood uit de bodem terug te
dringen. Lood in de contactzone van diffuus verontreinigde gebieden kan leiden tot
onaanvaardbare gezondheidsrisico’s voor jonge kinderen. Lood heeft bij jonge kinderen een
nadelig effect op het leervermogen en leidt tot een verlies van IQ-punten. In wijken van steden of
woonkernen in landelijk gebied met een rijke gebruikshistorie is de aanwezigheid van diffuse
loodverontreiniging in de bodem een blijvend punt van aandacht.
