Update of Waste Shipment Regulation 1418/2007
The general objective of the contract is to compile information on legal requirements or restrictions (if any) concerning the importation of non-hazardous waste (i.e waste not covered by the Basel Convention) in all non-EU, non-OECD countries and territories, including any specific requirements for waste destined for recovery or for disposal. The contract will also gather information on views of authorities and industry bodies on how best to promote international trade in secondary raw materials (ie sorted waste) whilst ensuring that such trade does not lead to damage to the environment.
The study will obtain up-to-date information on the legal requirements (if any) for the importation of non-hazardous waste in non-OECD countries and territories, including any requirements that differentiate between importation for recovery or for disposal.
The contractor is expected to contact authorities in all non-OECD countries and territories in order to verify up-to-date official information. The contractor will establish a website providing information on the study in English. The contractor should foresee a visit to Beijing.
