The Metropolitan Police Service (MPS), founded by Sir Robert Peel in 1829, is famed around the world and has a unique place in the history of policing. Today, accountable to The Mayor's Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC), the MPS is responsible for policing an area of 620 square miles with a daily population of over 12 000 000.
Information Event for Infrastructure Suppliers:
The Metropolitan Police Service wishes to invite ICT suppliers to an information event in central London, where we will outline upcoming infrastructure procurement opportunities within the Total Technology Programme — Infrastructure (TTPI).
TTPI supports our objectives to cut costs, cut crime, help victims and make London safer. We are modernising and rationalizing our infrastructure to increase efficiency, reduce operating costs and free up officer time. In addition, many of our infrastructure contracts expire soon and need to be re-tendered.
Towers Model:
To meet these business and commercial objectives, our procurement approach is to implement a multi supplier ‘Towers Model'. This means that contracts will be split into towers of related services, and we will procure a supplier or a group of suppliers for each.
The split of services across the towers is based on a logical grouping, and considers how suppliers typically specialise and provide their solutions. Our current proposal is to divide core infrastructure services across 6 towers with the SIAM (Service Integration and Management) layer sitting across the towers acting as the point of integration into the end to end service.
The six towers currently being considered are:
SIAM;
End user services;
Network services;
Hosting services;
Data centre services;
Application support services.
The towers provide the technical delivery of services and collaborate with other towers when necessary in the delivery of these services. It is the intention to develop the tower model further in the future.
How to join in:
A market event will be held in central London.
For further information and to request an invitation to this event, please email ttpinframailbox-.procurement@met.police.uk by no later than noon Friday 7.11.2014.
