Fruitmarket Gallery, Warehouse and Studios
The Fruitmarket Gallery (FMG) intends to appoint an architect-led multidisciplinary design team to refurbish the existing venue and extend into the neighbouring warehouse building.
The FMG are seeking to engage an architect-led multi-disciplinary design team to work with them and deliver their vision for the project.
1) To bring the building adjacent to The Fruitmarket Gallery into active cultural use, creating a new opportunity for artists and audiences, with a space that suits the way artists work now – at scale, and with an agenda for artist-led installation, performance, cross artform collaboration and programming in partnership.
2) To renovate the current Fruitmarket Gallery building, ensuring it is accessible and fit for the purpose of showing the very best 20th and 21st century visual art.
3) To maintain our priority focus on the organisation’s key strengths – programming and audience engagement, organisational agility.
Section III: Legal, economic, financial and technical information
Architects and practices who wish to apply must either be registered with the Architects Registration Board of the UK; under terms of current UK acts, or hold such qualifications as comply with articles 3 and 4 of EC Directive 85/384/EEC.

The selection of the architect-led multidisciplinary team will be carried out using the two stage restricted process.
The completed ESPDs will be scored to establish bidders to proceed to the tender stages. Please refer to contract documentation for exclusion and selection criteria.
Short-listed bidders (maximum 5) will be invited to submit project specific information on a Pre-Interview Questionnaire (PIQ). These will be scored by the selection panel and bidders will be invited to attend a presentation/interview. Final selection will be on a quality based selection procedure. Please refer to contract documentation for detailed information on scoring for this stage.
