The European technology platform on renewable heating and cooling (RHC TP) has prepared — also with the support of the seventh framework programme of the European Community for research, technological development and demonstration activities — the following 5 roadmaps (freely available at www.rhc-platform.org):
— solar heating and cooling technology roadmap (published June 2014),
— geothermal technology roadmap (published March 2014),
— biomass technology roadmap (published March 2014),
— cross-cutting technology roadmap (published March 2014),
— common implementation roadmap for renewable heating and cooling technologies (published June 2014).
The study to be implemented under this contract will assess and report on the degree of implementation of the above-referenced roadmaps.
Furthermore, it will report on some specific aspects of the heating and cooling sector (both renewable and fossil fuel-based), in particular with regard to the evolution of the heating and cooling industry.
Finally, in order to identify the reasons for successes and failures, an analysis of the behaviour of consumers and of the main business models in the heating and cooling sector will be carried out.
