Owner’s Engineer Services for Selection and Construction Supervision of Shipbuilder on New Build
This procurement is seeking a qualified firm to provide assistance to East Africa Marine Transport Co. Ltd. in the selection of a suitable shipbuilder and supervision of the subsequent construction actives for a new build ferry on Lake Victoria.
One site shall be on the Lake Victoria. The shipyard location will be decided by the shipbuilder.
East Africa Marine Transport Co. Ltd. ("EAMT") is looking to retain the services of a qualified and experienced engineering firm to provide technical advisory services as Owner’s Engineer for the Project during the turnkey shipbuilder procurement phase and the ferry construction phase of one roll-on/roll-off (“RoRo”) freight ferry with the option of a second vessel exercisable by EAMT. The scope will cover:
(i) the selection of the turnkey shipbuilder from initial solution to Notice to proceed under the Shipbuilding Contract (NTP) and throughout the construction period to completion and takeover, and during the defects liability period (“Phase 1”); and
(ii) if requested, throughout the construction to completion and takeover of the second Vessel (“Phase 2”).
The procurement is for one roll-on/roll-off (“RoRo”) freight ferry with the option of a second vessel (each a “Vessel” and collectively the “Vessels”) exercisable by East Africa Marine Transport Company Limited

This project is being funded by InfraCo Africa Limited (“InfraCo”). InfraCo is part of the Private Infrastructure Development Group Ltd (“PIDG”), an infrastructure development and finance organisation delivering pioneering infrastructure in the poorest and most fragile countries. PIDG is funded by six governments (UK, Netherlands, Switzerland, Australia, Sweden, Germany) and the IFC. This procurement will be conducted under the Public Contracts Regulations 2015 (as amended) of the United Kingdom.
This service will be funded by EU-Africa ITF.
