Georgia is considering loan financing from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (‘EBRD’ or the ‘Bank’) for the benefit of Tbilisi Transport Company Ltd (the ‘Company’) to renew the existing outdated rolling stock. The proposed project will require the procurement of the following goods, works and services:
— New metro cars: 40 (forty) metro cars (10 x 4-car trains),
— Modernization of depot – tbc,
— Metro tunnel rehabilitation – tbc.
Open tendering for the Metro cars contract is expected to commence in Q4 2019. The contract is expected to be signed in Q1 2020, subject to successful tendering and confirmation of Bank’s financing. The feasibility study for Depot modernisation and Metro tunnel rehabilitation is ongoing.

Contracts to be financed with the proceeds of a loan from the Bank will be subject to the Bank's Procurement Policies and Rules and will be open to firms from any country. The proceeds of the Bank's loan will not be used for the purpose of any payment to persons or entities, of for any import of goods, if such payment or import is prohibited by a decision of the United Nations Security Council taken under Chapter VII of the Charter of the United Nations or under a law of official regulation of the purchaser's country.
