— To analyse the context for innovation scaling-up within the EIP-AHA (by supporting regions involved or about to embark in development or deployment of innovation).
— To analyse other innovation-driven sectors that have successfully tackled scaling-up challenges.
— To identify key success factors from such sectors that can be applied to support the scaling-up innovation process in active and healthy ageing.
The economic triggers for scaling-up success should also be examined in detail across innovation life cycles from solution development to market. What the regulatory, policy or commercial conditions are that will help increase investment flows into innovative, active and healthy ageing solutions from the perspective of private sector investors and from the perspective of public investment. Emphasis will be placed on facilitating the transfer and implementation of good practices, which have demonstrated concrete outcomes and benefits. It is important to learn from the most advanced pioneers what to do, but also what not to do. The establishment of ‘knowledge networks’ enabling the exchange of knowledge, best practices, or experience in a very pragmatic way, that includes input from other EIP-AHA regions and from external benchmarks (other sectors including investment sectors) can be a way to achieve this. These knowledge networks will shorten the learning curve for those adopting a good practice or embarking in implementation and make sure that any problem encountered in 1 area is not replicated across other areas.
