II.4)Short description of nature and quantity or value of supplies or services:
Supply of Food. The Authority has a possible future requirement to provide a food supply solution that meets the needs of the British Armed Forces and entitled personnel in both the UK and worldwide where a contracted food service is not provided. The requirement includes the sourcing and distribution of food, in-flight meals, bottled water and other beverages, and catering consumables to UK and overseas locations. All food sourcing shall be compliant with UK Govt Buying standards for food and catering services.
The Authority is keen to encourage the involvement of Small & Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in delivering this requirement, consistent with the Government Procurement for Growth agenda.
The Authority is currently developing its procurement strategy for this requirement and is seeking the views of industry on how the requirement might best be met. To obtain these views a short questionnaire has been prepared, which will be available to all companies that are interested in this requirement. Please contact Martin Dawes or Robert Davis (address in Section I) who will provide you with a copy of the questionnaire. The closing date for expressing interest in this requirement is 23.1.2016, and questionnaire responses should be submitted no later than 30.1.2016.
A Contract Notice will be published to commence the competition. It is anticipated that the competition will commence in Mar/Apr 2016, once the necessary approvals have been secured.
Note that this requirement will be subject to the PCR 2015.

From 2 April 2014 the Government is introducing its new Government Security Classifications Policy (GSC) to replace the current Government Protective Marking Scheme. A key aspect of this is the reduction in the number of security classifications used.
