As one of Europe's largest development finance institutions, DEG promotes private business structures to contribute to sustainable economic growth and improved living conditions. In order to support DEG's financial sector clients in the process of developing and implementing an adequate environmental and social management system to manage their specific environmental and social risks DEG is seeking to engage consultants under a framework agreement to provide related guidance and advice to this group of DEG's clients.
DEG — Deutsche Investitions- und Entwicklungsgesellschaft mbH Kämmergasse 22 50676 Köln The services of the consultant will be rendered mainly at his or her place of business. On-site visits at the clients facilities in developing countries and emerging markets will become necessary.

Environmental and social issues have become an element of management decision processes in the financial sector worldwide. DEG's environmental and social requirements generally encompass the compliance of DEG's Clients with national environmental and social laws and regulations, ILO Core Labour Conventions, World Bank/IFC Performance Standards (IFC PS) and relevant sector Guidelines for all applicable projects with high risks, DEG's own exclusion list for its entire Portfolio, E&S requirements of other DFIs, like IFC, EBRD or EDFIs.
In order to support DEG's financial sector clients in the process of developing and implementing an adequate environmental and social management system to manage their specific environmental and social risks DEG is seeking to engage consultants under a framework agreement to provide related guidance and advice to this group of DEG clients.
DEG has elaborated terms of reference for commissioning various individual ESMS advisories under a framework agreements. Every individual assignment thereunder will be commissioned through an engagement order specifying details such as timeframe, staff involved and costs with each individual FI. DEG reserves to conclude the framework agreement envisaged with up to 6 operators. In the course of an assignment, on-site visits at the clients facilities will be mandatory. A very detailed description of the services to be rendered can be found in the terms of reference. In selected cases the operator shall also provide other E and S risk related, non-assignment related advisory services to DEG or other external parties described in the terms of reference.
