AEB Amsterdam is voornemens om - in het kader van het energieakkoord van de gemeente Amsterdam - haar CO2 emissie te reduceren. Hiertoe wil het in oktober 2021 een SDE++ subsidie aanvragen voor de afvang van CO2 uit de rookgassen van de HRC (ca. 440 kton/jaar). De subsidie kan gebruikt worden voor de afvang en vervolgens transport opslag in een leeg gasveld in de Noordzee en eventueel gebruik in de glastuinbouw in de zomer: CCS versus CCUS. Hiervoor zoekt AEB een uitvoerende partij die gedurende 15 jaar deze werkzaamheden wil uitvoeren. In Negometrix (Mercell Nederland) was reeds aangekondigd (ref. nr. 180365) dat AEB een aanbesteding zal gaan doen voor de transport, opslag en/of utilisatie van CO2.
