II.1.4)Short description:
The project's main objective is to assess the contribution of residential solid waste burning to pollution, notably of particulate matter (PM) but also benzo(a)pyrene (B(a)P), by region. Based on these findings, it should also assess the need and possibilities for action at local, regional, national or EU level and developing a strategy for reducing such emissions. The size of the project does not allow for performing research in all Member States, so it would only focus on Hungary and Romania, drawing on previous experience from Germany. The scientific research should be underpinned by real-life measurements to be carried out in Hungary and Romania during the heating season (November-March). Measurements must be based on uniform, advanced and the most recent research methods, such as accurate mobile and/or portable sensors and drones equipped with sensors. The measurements are planned to last for 2 years.
