This study will explore possible measures which could contribute to further noise reduction and produce health benefits for EU citizens. It will inform possible future development of the EU noise policy, by:
(a) identifying measures that could better achieve a noise reduction; and
(b) making an assessment of recent Commission's actions to engage with stakeholders on possible further noise reduction measures and if appropriate propose amendments to existing legislation related to noise in transport. The noise expert group gave insights on options for noise reduction measures, which would be, amongst others, assessed in this study, together with action plans already developed by Member States at local and national level.
