 7.Contract description

The ultimate objective of the technical assistance (TA) is to contribute significantly to the reduction of fatalities and serious injuries caused by road accidents in Ukraine, starting with providing for safer conditions for travelling on the road sections funded by EIB/EU and other IFI’s. The TA includes two main components: i) Safer Roads, focusing the Ukrainian roads design standards, approval processes, safety audit capacity, and the capacity of the road agencies to plan, design and operation the road network, ii) Safer road users, focusing safety awareness, education campaigns and understanding the main accident risk factors in Ukraine. The TA team will include, among others, Road Safety Management, Road Safety Audit, Road Design Standards and Road Safety Campaign and Communications Experts.

Regulation (EC) no.1638/2006 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 24 October 2006 laying down general provisions establishing a European Neighbourhood and Partnership Instrument, and the European Investment Bank Board of Directors decision of 14 July 2010 on the establishment of the multi-purpose, multi-sectoral Eastern Partnership Technical Assistance Trust Fund (EPTATF)
