In August 2019, the Nordic Council of Ministers agreed on Vision 2030 to become the most sustainable and integrated region in the world by 2030. The work of MR-DIGITAL on delivering frictionless digital services already supports the integration of the region.
Digital technologies are critical enablers for achieving Vision 2030 and the sustainable development goals in many different sectors.
MR-DIGITAL will explore how digital technologies such as artificial intelligence, 5G, cloud and new data-based technologies can accelerate and maximise the impact of policies to deal with climate change and protect the environment, while giving the Nordic region a competitive edge globally. These opportunities of the green digital transition are the object of this study.

The study will contribute to qualifying the green agenda in the work of MR-DIGITAL. The main objectives of the study are to contribute to greater knowledge of the digital green transition in the region and the potentials of digital solutions to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions as well as to enhance cooperation on furthering digital green solutions in the region.
