The Government of India (GOI) has applied a loan from the European Investment Bank (EIB) towards the cost of the KANPURMETRO RAIL Project and it intends to apply part of the proceeds to payments for goods, works, related services and consulting services to be delivered under this project. The project will be most probably jointly financed by the (EIB) with
The GOI and the GOUP.
The project concerns the construction of a metro line of about 32 385 km with 30 stations and related purchase of metro cars in the city of Kanpur, in the State of Uttar Pradesh in Northern India. The project is a major element of the first phase of the staged construction of a longer network of metro lines in the city.
The project will include the following components:
— The works includes construction of a new metro line with 19 354 km of elevated double track, approximately 13 031 km of underground double track. The project also includes 18 elevated and 12 underground stations, together with related intermodal connections and two metro-car storage depots together with maintenance workshop (Polytechnic College Depot and Agriculture University Depot).
— The supply of goods and installation includes power supply systems, signalling and telecommunication systems, passenger information. The mechanical and electrical components include earthing, lighting, fire management, ventilation and AC, water and wastewater, security, escalator/lifts and automated fare collection systems. The goods will also include supply of metro-cars and equipment for operation and maintenance.
— The services will include studies, design and supervision, monitoring and reporting as well as other technical assistance.
Procurement procedures
Procurement of contracts co-financed by the EIB will be conducted through the procedures as specified in the EIB Guide to Procurement (September 2018) and is open to all bidders.
