Digitalisation Equipment for Paper Based Material — A0 Size
At Nasjonalbiblioteket (the National Library) we have a goal to preserve our collections, digitise them and make them accessible in a manner that captures public interest. We will also utilise digitising services for the Norwegian archive, library and museum sector.
In order to reach this goal, we have more than 100 employees who work on a daily basis with digitising related work assignments, and we have developed efficient production runs for mass digitisation.
As a link in our further digitising work, we need to procure equipment and/or systems to be able to digitise our largest paper format up to at least A0 size.
We plan to procure a digitising unit and, in addition, have an option to procure a further one equivalent unit within 1 year. The digitising units(s) will be delivered to our address in Mo i Rana and can be used for comprehensive modules in our established production runs for paper digitisation.
The digitising unit can be a scanner or a camera based system that can be used to digitise our largest format, right up to A0 format. Everything from individual sheets, such as pictures, maps and placards, to bound material such as protocols, books and newspapers.
The format and paper quality of the originals can vary a lot. There is often correlation between the largest formats and the worst paper quality, often in the form of cellulose paper that was used at the end of the 1800s. These are paper originals that are challenging to handle properly and we would like equipment so that we can digitise them without ruining them.
