CNECT/2020/OP/0009 — Study on Copyright and New technologies: Copyright Data Management and Artificial Intelligence — SMART 2019/0038
The results of the study will inform the next Commission and feed mainly into two areas of policy reflections. First, the need to assess and potentially modernise the European copyright data and tech infrastructure is becoming prominent among MS and creative sectors. For example, the upcoming Finnish presidency will be launching a reflection on copyright management and data in the cultural industries, which will look into these aspects including a reflection around Blockchain technology. Second, questions around copyright and AI also figure prominently in the current policy debates.
The upcoming Commission will need to reflect whether policy actions should be considered regarding these areas.
