The UK Atomic Energy Authority is a non departmental government body carrying out research into the potential of nuclear fusion as a future source of energy.
The Authority has a requirement for between 8 and 12 Copper Chrome Zirconium J-Plates which are approximately 400 mm long x 330 mm wide x 40 mm thick. The manufacturing work involves fabricating (bending), machining and welding of the material followed by pressure and vacuum leak testing. Additionally, there are Stainless Steel, Nickel and Copper pipework assemblies which are Electron Beam welded together into the J-Plate component.
This PIN has been published to enable market research to commence to asses the reaction of the market to the proposed requirement and review available technologies. The Authority will conduct a dialogue with the marketplace. This may result in a call for competition based on the content of the requirement achieved through the dialogue.
