Face-to-face, blended learning and distance learning:
Generally, the courses will be run in the EUIPO buildings in Alicante and, in some cases, in the contractor's own buildings in Alicante or abroad.
This training includes courses in English, Spanish, French, German and Italian and, occasionally, any of the official languages of the European Union. They include:
General courses:
— general non-intensive, intensive or semi-intensive courses,
— one-to-one courses,
— Spanish and English courses for spouses of EUIPO staff.
Other courses:
— specialised courses: courses relating to the specific language used in the field of intellectual property,
— tailored courses: tailored courses may be requested for different circumstances:
• tailored courses in groups of at least 5 or 6,
• 'on the job' courses. These courses are fully adapted to the needs of a specific team at the EUIPO,
• courses requested by team leaders for staff at the EUIPO and staff from national offices of Member States or any European Union body or agency.
All of the tailored courses may also include a certain number of hours taught online through exercises and activtities via the EUIPO's Learning Portal. These will be supported by the teacher for the duration of the course.
Other services:
Other possible services related to the EUIPO's language-learning offer:
— one-to-one tutoring or in small groups. Individual assesment and guidance. This involves offering the support of a language trainer in order to prepare a personalised study plan for those requiring such guidance. It will thus be necessary to analyse the relevant needs and study preferences, as well as identify the areas of greatest importance, need or interest,
— 'language ludo'. This is a series of short linguistic workshops (1 to 2 hours) which offer the opportunity to improve specific linguistic skills and knowledge in a fun and entertaining environment,
— guide to language learning at the EUIPO. The EUIPO can request the contractor to prepare a guide explaining all of the options and strategies proposed, and which also explains the options that may be the most suitable for staff members depending on their individual role and level, as well as their specific needs.
Assessment:
— assessment of participants' level,
— individual assessment and guidance service.
Reference must be made to any course or material offered according to the levels stipulated in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages of the Council of Europe (CEFR).
