Following the opening of the new Exhibition Road entrance in June 2017, the next major project at the V and A is to transform the entrance on Cromwell Road. This iconic space has acted as a welcome and hub for visitors for over 100 years, not only as a point of orientation and visit planning, but as a centre for events of all types. The V and A is inviting interested design teams, comprising of designers / architects and user experience designers working together to apply to provide design services for the refurbishment of the Cromwell Road entrance; a project in 2 phases.

Phase 1 will comprise a redesign of:

— glass entrance doors,

— gecurity bag check area

Phase 2 will comprise a redesign of:

— entrance desk,

— furniture,

— cloakroom,

— men’s and Women’s toilets,

— lighting,

— heating.

An overall concept design for the entire space will be required as part of Phase 1, to ensure that the elements delivered fit within the identity of the wider design.
