British Embassy Paris, France — Chancery Office Refurbishment
The work scope includes refurbishing the Chancery building, providing a modern 21st century working environment for staff and future expansion. It involves a level of structural alteration to the building, internal remodelling and redecoration throughout and the complete replacement of all electrical services within the building. There is the opportunity for a partial decant of staff, but the project will be phased and elements of the building will need to remain operational at all times during the project. Although being undertaken in France, the project will be expected to substantially comply with UK building regulations.
The Contractor’s roles and responsibilities will be fully detailed in the tender documents but are summarised as follows (full specification and drawings will be issued with the ITT, there will be some fairly small elements of Contractor’s design required which will be highlighted):
— Completion of the project on time, to the agreed quality standard as set out in contract documentation.
— Preparation, implementation and maintenance of a construction programme.
— Issue of regular progress reports to an agreed format.
— Management and responsibility for site health and safety.
— Management, responsibility and coordination of site logistics including site delivery access and egress.
— Preparation of a handover plan for agreement by the Project Manager and implementation of the agreed plan.
— Provision of satisfactory operation and maintenance documentation.
— Preparation and maintenance of a Health and Safety Plan.
— Preparation of a proposed final account for agreement with the Cost Manager.
— Making good all defects.
— Attending/chairing meetings (e.g. progress meeting, site meetings, quality control meetings, defect Inspections, etc.).
