European study on clinical diagnostic reference levels for X-ray medical imaging.
The overall objective of this project is to advance the optimisation of radiation protection of patients in Europe. The project will provide up-to-date clinical DRLs for the most important from a radiation protection perspective X-ray imaging tasks in Europe. It should further stimulate national and local efforts in this area.
The work will include the following tasks:
— conducting a European DRL survey for X-ray imaging of adults following a predefined (by the project team) methodology in accordance with these specifications,
— specifying up-to-date clinical DRLs for the most important from a radiation protection perspective X-ray imaging tasks in Europe,
— organising a workshop to disseminate and discuss the results of this project with Member States and the relevant national, European and international stakeholders and to identify the need of further national and local actions on establishing, updating and using DRLs.
