Electrical Specialist associated with New Student Centre. The New Student Centre will be accommodated in a purpose designed 3,600m2 (approximate) building. The development will consist of a three storey over partial basement Student Centre, providing a foyer space, auditorium (200 seat), meeting rooms, offices, a shop and café, along with site clearance, new landscape paving and external works including enclosed bicycle shelters. The building will include bespoke timber joinery, structural glazing and curtain walling. The building is designed to achieve a BER A3 rating.

Electrical Specialist, New Student Centre, Completion Contract
As a result of termination of the employment of the original main contractor and the requirement to re-tender the main project delays in completion of the electrical reserved specialist works have been encountered. The tender date for the electrical reserved specialist works is April 2019 and the anticipated finalisation of the completion contract is Q1 2022. Arising from the delays increased costs have arisen associated with hyperinflation in the construction industry and increased costs associated with the availability of materials and labour. Sundry other variations associated with additional works to theatre equipment installation not part of original project scope.
Unanticipated termination of employment of original main contractor resulted in a requirement to re-tender the main project. As a result of the termination and re-tender process on the main contract delays have been encountered on the electrical reserved specialist works. Arising from the unforeseen and unanticipated delays increased costs have arisen associated with hyperinflation in the construction industry during this delay period, increased costs associated with availability of materials arising from shortages, all due to the unprecedented event of the Covid pandemic and restrictions on imports and also increased costs associated with the availability of labour again due to the pandemic.
