II.4)Short description of nature and quantity or value of supplies or services:
Project Information Schedule:
1) Expressions of interest are sought from suitable contractors for the replacement of fume cupboards at the National Oceanography Centre, Southampton.
2) The purpose of the project is to replace a number of expired fume cupboards and modifications to associated air handling plant to provide more easily maintained and energy efficient systems.
3) The proposed works will encompass the replacement of fume cupboards, associated scrubber units and dilution tanks. Works will also extend to the replacement/refurbishment of air handling units providing supply air to laboratories where fume cupboards are located. The scope of works will incorporate all ductwork modifications, local services terminations and control wiring. Also all necessary testing, commissioning and containment testing.
4) The works will be procured on a competitive tender basis with a scoring for quality and price (60:40).
5) The contract will be based upon the NEC 3 Engineering and Construction Short Contract (NEC3 ECSC).
6) The anticipated start date of the site works is December 2015.
7) Anticipated duration of the works is 12 weeks.
8) Anticipated date of issue of tender documents (based on drawings and specification) is October 2015.
9) Extent of design to be carried out by the contractor is to be confirmed.
10) The Employer is the National Oceanography Centre, Southampton, Waterfront Campus, European Way, Southampton.
11) The Lead Consultant/Building Surveyor/Principal Designer/Quantity Surveyor is Kendall Kingscott Limited.
12) The Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health Services designer is Mott MacDonald.
