As operating on behalf of Utility companies in the United Kingdom, Energy Network Association must comply with the Utilities Contract Regulation 2006 which implemented the Utilities Procurement Directive 2004/17/EC coordinating the procurement procedure of entities operating in the water, energy, transport and postal services sector.
This directive binds only the Utilities sector and sets out the procedures to follow for utilities procurements above certain thresholds.
The directive is intended to facilitate greater competition by opening up markets and requires the Electricity Distribution Network Operators to competitively tender works, goods and services above certain thresholds.
To facilitate this we utilise the Achilles UVDB system to carry out a first stage supplier qualification process to comply with these requirements.
