A66 Design and Build (D&B) Contractor — Supplier Information/Engagement
Highways England (HE) is the government company charged with operating, maintaining and improving England's motorways and major A roads. We have a huge road investment programme to deliver and want to engage with suppliers to inform our approach to procuring our larger national infrastructure projects. Supplier feedback and providing the opportunity to influence project and procurement development is extremely important.
The A66 Northern Trans-Pennine (NTP) Project focuses on creating a new strategic corridor linking the A1(M) J53 at Scotch Corner with the M6 J40 at Penrith by upgrading this section of the A66 to dual carriageway and making other improvements along its length. The A66 between these junctions is 50 miles in length of mixed standard both single and dual carriageway. The single carriageways sections total 21 miles in length. The project will also enhance capacity at the junctions at either end: A1(M) J53 Scotch Corner and M6 J40 Penrith/Kemplay Bank.
Highways England is currently developing its strategy for the appointment of design and build contractors for the project.
Highways England has prepared a supplier engagement pack to provide a summary of the A66 NTP project information. With this pack we would like to brief potential suppliers on the latest position.
As part of developing the strategy, we would like to obtain information from the market to assist in its development.
The attached questionnaire will assist Highways England in developing a strategy. Please return this document by 2 September 2020.
We are releasing a market engagement questionnaire along with this PIN in order to gather intel for the project. Following this, we are also planning to hold a virtual supplier event in September 2020. Please email the A66 NTP Market Engagement inbox ‘A66NTPProcurement@highwaysengland.co.uk’ to register your interest in both the day and the questionnaire.
