The European Parliament has tasked the Commission with the management of this pilot project in order to improve the knowledge on the waste management and contamination of lindane and hexachlorocyclohexane (HCH) in the EU. The aim of the contract is to assist the European Commission by compiling a detailed inventory of production sites, waste deposits, landfills and treatment centres of lindance and HCH in the EU, on one hand, and by assisting public authorities at local, regional or national level confronted with lindane and HCH issues and provide them with support, expertise, advice and consultancy, on the other.
